Jaunpur: A 20-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a youth on the pretext of marriage in the Kerakat area here, police said on Thursday.
Following his refusal to marry the girl after the alleged rape, the woman went to the Kotwali along with her parents and furnished a written complaint pertaining to rape. As per the police, the woman, hailing from a village of the Kerakat police station area, has alleged that a youth of the same village allegedly raped her while she was on her way to a farm, one week back.
When she opposed the same saying that she will tell everyone about the incident and send him to jail, the youth allegedly told her to remain mum stating that he will marry her. Hence, she did not inform anyone about the incident. The youth allegedly raped her again on the pretext of marriage on Tuesday night.
Following this, he allegedly used abusive words and refused to marry her. The victim subsequently shared her ordeal with her family who then complained at the youth's house.
Luring the victim's family with money, the youth's family allegedly asked them to remain quiet. Later when the woman reached the youth's house along with her family, the accused fled from his home.
The locals reached the police outpost along with the accused's younger brother but after no action was initiated, the victim went to the Kotwali with a complaint, late Wednesday night.(UNI)
