Thiruvananthapuram: In a shocking incident reported from Kerela, a 23 year old law student has chopped off the genitals of a saint who attempted rape on her. According to the information furnished by Kerela police the 54 year old saint named Swami Ganeshanand was admitted to a government hospital after the incident.
As per the press release furnished by the hospital, an emergency surgery of the accused was completed. At present, he is out of danger after a plastic surgery. While official police sources have said that the accused had been torturing her since childhood. For eight years she fought the trauma which led to her extreme step.
According to the statement of the victim, the accused saint used to visit her home for conducting rituals. The girl faced her first sexual assault when she was in class XII. The accused repeated her act on Friday night and in a self defense girl opted to chop off his genitals. Serious charges under POCSO and 376 is leveled against the accused by the police. While no action will be taken against the woman, police said.
Reacting to the incident, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has praised the woman for acting against the heinous crime. Kerala State Women's Commission member Prameela Devi said there should not be a religious tag when such things happening in the society.(WD)
