26-year-old jilted lover who threw acid on married woman arrested from Bihar: Delhi Police

New Delhi: A 26-year-old jilted lover, who threw acid on a married woman, has been arrested from Bihar by Delhi Police. The accused also had a plan to shoot her husband if he came to oppose the acid attack, police said.

The police said they took him for recovery of the gun, where he kept on tricking the police and after that suddenly took out the pistol from some place and opened fire on the team in retaliation cops fired a bullet which hit his right leg. After that he was admitted to the hospital for treatment. A separate case has been registered in this regard and further investigation is on.

According to police, on November 3, a jilted lover threw acid on a 23-year-old married woman at Sector 3 in Bawana area. The woman was admitted to the nearest hospital and a case was registered on her statement. The victim stated that a man, who was identified as Montu, forced her to marry him but the victim refused. The victim lives with her husband in the Pooth Khurd area where Montu also started living in their neighborhood, said police.

On the day of the incident, Montu called the woman to his room on some pretext and asked her to leave her husband and live with him but the woman refused following which the accused forcibly tied her both hands and threw acid on her and ran away, said police.

The police immediately registered a case and started searching for him. The accused was arrested from Bihar with the help of technical assistance.

During interrogation, the accused told the police that he did so after the woman refused to marry him, police said.
 
The accused further said that along with throwing acid, he had a plan to shoot her husband with a country-made pistol if he came to oppose something. For this he had also taken a pistol and hid it somewhere in the bushes. (UNI)
