400 jawans taken ill due to suspected food poisoning

Thiruvananthapuram: About 400 CRPF jawans attached to the Pallippuram camp, near Kerala Capital, were taken to various hospitals last night following suspected food poisoning. Local police said today that no one was reported to be in a serious condition. They complained stomach upset and vomitting after consuming fish for dinner.

Medical college hospital sources said as many as 111 personnel were admitted to hospital and condition of none of them was stated to be serious. Food samples were taken for further examination. Kerala Health Minister K K Shylaja visited the hospital to coordinate the facilities for the jawans. (UNI)
