Thane: A special POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act court here convicted and sentenced a 59-year-old man to rigorous imprisonment for seven years for repeatedly raping on his own 14-year-old daughter for three years.
Special public prosecutor Vijay Munde told the court that the accused along with his wife and three children lived in Navi Mumbai. The accused raped his daughter on several occasions three years prior to 2015. Also, the girl's two teenage brothers raped her during the immediate past of 2015.
Relying on testimony of eight witnesses, Special Judge H M Patwardhan observed that the prosecution has successfully proved the charges against the accused (whose identity not revealed).
However, the Judge acquitted the wife of the accused, who was also tried in the case for having abetted the crime, due to lack of sufficient evidence.
Two brothers of the victim, one aged 16 and another 15, were also tried in the same case on the charges of rape on the victim and their case is being presently tried at the Juvenile court.
The court imposed a fine of Rs 3,000 on the accused. (UNI)
