6.43 ft long 35.4 Kg Crocodile rescued in Navi Mumbai

Thane: Since past many years an Indian Marsh Crocodile measuring 6.43 ft and weighing 35.4 kg which was roaming the sewers and creeks of Navi Mumbai whose videos went viral at many instances was finally rescued on Tuesday by the Wildlife Welfare Association with help of Thane Range Forest department.

 
An official release by the Thane Range forest department on Tuesday stated, Many videos were surfaced and went viral in which people were pelting stones at the crocodile. This Crocodile was freely roaming the creek and later inhabited an artificial pond made for raising fishes.
 
On February 17, WWA received a complaint about this Crocodile which needed to be relocated. From date 18 to 23 February we were on ground 24*7 monitoring the situation and devising a plan to trap the crocodile. we secured all exit points with help of the net and narrowed down the area of operation.
 
On Sunday night we set up a trap cage designed by us. Finally on Tuesday at 12.10 am we were able to successfully trap the crocodile into our trap cage. This Crocodile was further taken for medical evaluation and after declared fit will be relocated to a safe location from which she won't be able to find it's way back into city limits.
