718 NGOS blacklisted, 15 delisted: CAPART informs apex court

New Delhi: CAPART, one of the departments dealing with the Centre's NGO funding, has filed an compliance affidavit in the Supreme Court stating that 718 NGOs had been blacklisted and 15 delisted. The agency, however, did not mention in the apex court as to which are these NGOs. The CAPART (Council for Advancement of People's Action and Rural Technology), had stated in its compliance affidavit that it was planning to file and also in the process of filing FIRs against 159 NGOs, which had not followed rules and misutilised government funds.

A bench, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Jagdish Singh Khehar and also comprising Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and D Y Chandrachud, was hearing a petition filed by lawyer, Manohar Lal Sharma, seeking action against those NGOs which had been misutilising government funds.
