Lucknow: A minor girl was kidnapped, raped and murdered in Fatehpur on Friday, police said.The sensational incident came to notice only on Friday morning when the cops nabbed the accused and recovered the body of the victim from near-by fields.
Reports said that a 15-year-old girl went missing on Wednesday evening. One Ajay, a resident of the same area was also found missing so the girl's family suspected that he kidnapped the girl but to save family's `honour' they have not reported the matter to the local police.
Reports said that on Friday morning, when the girl's family found Ajay roaming, they enquired from him about the missing girl but when he refused of having any knowledge about her whereabouts, they went and informed the local police suspecting some foul play.
SP Fatehpur, Prashant Verma said that they picked up Ajay and grilled him following which he confessed of the crime and revealed that he killed the girl and dumped her body in the nearby fields.
Later on Ajay's tips, the body was recovered. The circumstantial pieces of evidence suggested that the girl was raped and murdered. Local police arrested Ajay and also launched a hunt for his father who was aware of the incident but concealed the information.
In another incident in Basti, the body of a 22-year-old youth was found hanging with a tree under mysterious circumstances on Friday morning.
The victim, Ashok Kumar, a resident of Kajrikund Vihar in Kaptanganj area, was missing since Thursday night and his body was found hanging in nearby Parsauli locality. The family members suspected it to be a murder case. Local police registered a case and were waiting for postmortem examination report before proceeding with the investigation.
In a similar incident in Azamgarh, the body of 23-year-old Dipal Jaiswal, a resident of Jyanpur Kasba in Hassanpatti area of the district was found hanging with the ceiling fan of his room on Thursday night.
Though the local police claimed it to be a case of suicide victim's father, Kamlesh suspected foul play as the body was touching the floor. The body was sent for post-mortem examination and further investigations are on.
Meanwhile, in a tragic mishap, a 14-year-old girl was burnt alive in Maharajganj district on Friday morning.
According to reports, Annu, a resident of Rajjawal hamlet of Ghughli was cooking food when due to leakage in the gas cylinder, a fire broke out in the kitchen in which the girl was critically injured.
She was rushed by her family members to the district hospital where she was pronounced dead upon arrival. A case has been registered and the body was sent for postmortem examination.(UNI)
