New Delhi: Even after one month of demonetisation, there seems to be no end to people’s woes as they were seen standing in long queues in front of the banks to withdraw their hard-earned money in different parts of the city.

While only few cash vending machines were functioning in the national capital, the other ATMs had downed their shutters because of the cash crunch. In North Delhi's Vijay Nagar area, the situation remained the same since note-ban, as people were seen standing in lines outside the State Bank of India Branch and Punjab National Bank everyday to get cash.

It has also led to trouble for the students residing in the area as they were running out of cash.
"We don't need such kind of development in which we have to suffer so much.Is it development ? People have to stand in lines for hours to withdraw our own money. We haven't expected such kind of development from our Prime Minister Narendra Modi," a student, standing in the queue outside SBI bank, here said. In South Extension area, people were seen standing in line outside the ICICI ATM to get cash.

The banks here witnessed a huge rush since note ban. In the Parliament Street area of the city, the scenario was similar in front of the PNB ATMs. People were seen standing in line at the Indian Overseas Bank branch at the Planning Commission building. Maximum of the ATMs was functioning in the area and only a few were not vending out cash. The Opposition parties have criticised the Centre’s move over the issue. They have been creating uproar in Parliament since beginning of Winter session of Parliament. (UNI)
