New Delhi: RBI building near Parliament today witnessed a high drama as Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee reached there to express solidarity with the people standing in long queues and meet RBI officials over demonetisation.

The arrival of the two Chief Ministers led to chaotic scenes and police had hard time in managing the crowd and persuading the leaders not to stay there. Scores of people, standing outside the RBI, were expressing anguish by rising anti-slogan against the leaders.

Traffic movement in the area came to stand still due to their visit. "Why they have come here? I feel like they are rubbing salts on our wounds," a person standing in the queue said. Earlier in the day, Mr Kejriwal tore into the Modi government's demonetisation policy while addressing a rally at Azadpur Mandi along with Ms Banerjee by giving the Centre an ultimatum to roll back the decision in three days, failing which they warned it of grave consequences.
