Action plan to assess all slaughter houses ordered in UP

Lucknow: With torching of meat shops in Hatras district, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today ordered the state police to make an action plan to assess the status of all the slaughter houses in the state. "There should be a total ban on cow smuggling and the government will have zero tolerance on this matter, "the CM told the senior police officials in a meeting here.
 

The CM said that to assess the legality of all the slaughter houses an action plan should be prepared. It has been anticipated that the state government could bring a legislation to streamline the slaughter houses in the state and to allow some of them only on stringent norms.

Mr Adityanath said that anti-social elements should be taken for task and police would be taken for task if found laxity in their work, a sources close to the government confirmed about the CM's directive. The CM also asked the officials to review the security cover given to VVIPs and politicians of the state and thereafter it should be changed.

However, the state cabinet minister and BJP government spokesperson Sidharthnath Singh told UNI here that all the illegal slaughter houses would be closed down at any cost. "We have promised the people of the state that no illegal slaughter houses would run in the state," he said, while adding that there are several ones operating in the state without proper norms.

When asked about the violence in the meat shops, Mr Singh said, "approval of the state government and its agencies likes the environment and other should be taken for running these slaughter house." Meanwhile, tension prevailed in Hatras district, where 3 meat shops were set on fire by a mob, last night. Police said that anti-social elements were involved in the crime and a manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits. (UNI)
