Exit poll stuns Akhilesh, CM keen to keep saffron party out

New Delhi: The BJP today welcomed the initial trends of election results as projected in the Exit polls by various television news channels and exuded confidence that the final outcome will be the same. Minutes later the major surveys predicted that the saffron party may do well in four states including Uttar Pradesh, UP Chief Minister and Samawjadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said, his party will do anything to keep the BJP out of power. "Good to see BJP getting projected in Exit polls as winning 4 out of 5 states. Numbers may vary.

But outcome is likely to be the same," senior party leader Ram Madhav said in a tweet. Another BJP leader Dr Subramanian Swamy said in his micro blogging site message, "If Exit polls are correct then it means that Hindutva with Namo have delivered four of the five states for BJP!!' BJP spokesman GVL Narasimha Rao also echoed similar sentiment and said, 'Our own confidence tells us that it’s clear majority. It will be a big victory for BJP". Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar told a news channel that he is confident that the BJP will be "far ahead of Congress".

"The Goa win will be the victory of the government, ' he said. However, talking to BBC, UP Chief Minister and Samawjadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said, his party will do anything to keep the BJP at bay. In the Exit Polls carried out by various news channels and survey companies including C Voter, ABP News, India News MRC-News 24 Today's Chanakya, BJP has been projected to be winning the polls in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur.
