Lukhnow: The ruling Samajwadi Party today split, when Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav was declared as the new national president of the party, replacing Mulayam Singh Yadav. The emergency national delegate convention here today also removed Shivpal Singh Yadav as the party's state president and sacked Amar Singh from the party.
Mulayam Singh Yadav has been made the chief patron of the party. The proposal was moved by Prof Ram Gopal Yadav under three resolutions, which were supported by voice vote by the huge crowd in the convention, held at the Janeshwar Mishra Park here. (UNI)
