Thiruvananthapuram: Alcohol worth Rs 96.86 crore was sold in the state on New Year eve, Kerala State Beverages Corporation Limited (BEVCO) has revealed.
The alcohol sale through BEVCO outlets on New Year eve was Rs 82.26 crore. The sale through the Consumerfed outlets was Rs 14.60 crore," sources in Bevco said on Sunday.
The highest sale through a single outlet at Thiruvananthapuram Power House was Rs 1.67 crore on New Year eve, crossing the one crore sale in a single day for the first time.
During Christmas, alcohol worth Rs 215 crore was sold in the state.
"The alcohol sale through Bevco outlets on Christmas eve was Rs 65 crore. The sale on December 25 was Rs 73 crore."
The BEVCO has its own outlets across Kerala besides Consumefed outlets. (UNI)
