Amit Shah confident of BJP win in MCD polls

Amit Shah confident of BJP win in MCD polls
, Saturday, 25 March 2017 (19:31 IST)
New Delhi: Exuding confidence that his party would repeat in the coming MCD polls the success achieved in the recent assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, BJP President Amit Shah today urged party workers to work towards ensuring the party's win. Addressing a BJP booth level workers convention in the national capital, Mr Shah said,' BJP lost Delhi and Bihar legislative assembly polls earlier but now MCD is the target to make a comeback in Delhi.' Taking a dig at Congress and AAP, Mr Shah said 'People shunned Congress for its misgovernance and maladministration and brought AAP riding high on expectations of development and progress. During the Congress regime in Delhi, Rs 12 lakh crore graft had surfaced. AAP was not behind in using Delhiites' money to publish its ads in the print media of other states for its publicity,' he said.

The event was attended by Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu, Commerce and Industry minister Nirmala Sitharaman, veteran BJP leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra, Science and Technology minister Harsh Vardhan, MP from North West Delhi Udit Raj, Delhi Co-incharge Tarun Chug, National secretary Sardar R P Singh, East Delhi MP Maheish Girri, Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari, Former Delhi BJP President Satish Updhayay, BJP spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi, Sports minister Vijay Goel and Minister for Development of North Eastern Region Jitendra Singh among others.

On AAP attack on the BJP for non fulfilment of its promises made to people of UP during the campaign for the state assembly elections, Mr Shah said,'It 's been just a week of BJP's win in UP legislative assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh and AAP is asking of its developmental account in the state. It is asking if the farmers' loans have been waived off as promised by the BJP on winning the polls. We counter ask the AAP whether it has fulfilled 'its' promises in the last two-and-a half years of its rule in Delhi.

BJP is not asking for any account but has AAP opened any new schools, have more teachers been recruited, more ITIs opened or 900 primary health centre opened as promised or two lakh public toilets constructed?' Attacking AAP further, Mr Shah said,'the most important thing is that AAP always talked of maintaining law and order in the national capital but given its track record of 13 MLAs caught in criminal cases , it speaks a different story. Before campaigning for MCD polls, AAP should probe these 13 legislators.' Claiming that the country was on an upswing since the BJP came to power at the Centre, Mr Shah said, "In the year 2014, the nation was on downslide. A negative vibe was prevailing in the country.

But Mr Narendra Modi winning two-thirds majority set things right. Within three years of his rule, the nation has gained its lost reputation, economy is looking up, exports are increasing and the mood of the nation is upbeat. Moreover, not a single charge of corruption has been levelled against any minister of the Modi government.' Modi government has been a boon to the nation and has tried to fulfill all its promises contrary to the AAP government whose rule is just mired in graft with unfulfilled promises. AAP's scams include the CNG Permit scam, street light scam, Pipes scam, Jal Board scam to name a few.' (UNI)
