Amritpal Singh arrest: CM Bhagwant Mann thanks Punjab people for maintaining peaceful atmosphere

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday in a video message thanked people of Punjab for maintaining a peaceful atmosphere in the state during the time frame when man hunt for arresting Khalistan sympathiser Amritpal Singh was on.
 
Amritpal was arrested this morning from Moga district's Rode village.
 
Mann said that he was closely watching police's pursuit of Amritpal and was always worried about the law and order scenario in the state "I got the information last night so I was continuously enquiring about the situation. I did not want any bloodshed or disturbance to law and order situation.'
 
He claimed that Amritpal could have been arrested earlier on March 18, the day police had launched a crackdown against him and his associates, but his government and police did not want any bloodshed.
 
He asserted that maintaining law and order and peace and harmony of the state was his government's top priority.
 
Mann also said that during the Ajnala incident in February also, police acted with restraint because his government did not want to disturb communal harmony and peace of the state. (UNI)
