Visakhapatnam: In a shocking incident, a bear mauled a zoo keeper to death in Visakhapatnam zoo after he entered the enclosure for maintenance on Monday.
Zoo curator Nandini Salaria told the media that the deceased Banavarapu Nagesh (23) had been working in Visakhapatnam zoo for two years. He entered the bears' enclosure to carry out maintenance work. Later he disappeared. The zoo staff, sometime later, found him in a pool of blood in the enclosure.
A bear so badly mauled him that he died instantaneously with deep wounds. The Zoo authorities announced Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia to the family of the deceased. (UNI)
