Kochi: Unknown persons cruelly chopped off the legs and tail of a cat few days ago and a probe was initiated by the Hill Palace police here to trace on who has committed the heinous crime.
The cat died on Thursday.
The owner of the pet animal has not filed a complaint with the police fearing attack from those who used to hack dogs and cats by inflicting them with severe injuries in the area, sources said on Friday.
"The carcass of several dogs and cats were also found from here for the last few weeks.
Police suspect the presence of drug mafia in the area," sources added. (UNI)
