Army jawans injured, 5 Pak Rangers killed, 3 injured across border

Jammu: A BSF Jawan suffered a serious injury as Pakistan yet again violated the ceasefire by firing heavily and targeting the forward Border Outposts in Hiranagar Sector of Kathua, while five Pakistani Rangers were also killed in firing across the border. However, Pakistan also violated the truce in Rajouri sector and an infiltration bid was foiled on the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, in which a Jawan also sustained a bullet injury. 'Pakistan this morning at around 0930 hrs targeted a duty mound of BSF in Hiranagar Sector of Bobiya in Kathua district and seriously injured one Constable Gurnam Singh, resident of Bhaleshar, Magowali, R S Pura, Arnia Jammu,’’ BSF Spokesman here said. He said the Jawan was instrumental in repulsing the terrorists-forced infiltration on the intervening night of October 19-20, adding, 'further Pak Rangers also started unprovoked fire in Kathua, Samba and Paragwal sectors, while befitting and the caliberated reply was given by the BSF troops to the enemy.'
 

Pak Rangers used heavy 82 Mortar fire in Hiranagar sector, which was equally retaliated by BSF, he said, and added that cross border firing stopped at 1700 hrs. 'There are confirmed reports of killing of 5 Pak Rangers and critical injuries to three in the firing,' he added. Though one BSF suffered serious injury yet morale of the troops is very high to counter and defeat any type of activities and aggression from Pak side, said the spokesman. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Kathua Ramesh Kumar told UNI that border dwellers living close to the zero line have been shifted to the four camps established in the Hiranagar sector, which is most affected. ‘’In Kathua sector, 32 safe locations have been identified and people in these areas are asked to remain alert and not to move out of their houses during night hours,’’ said the spokesman.

 ‘’The district administration is providing all basic facilities to the firing affected border migrants while schools close to the zero line have also been closed as a preventive measure,’’ the Deputy Commissioner added. In a separate incident, an infiltration bid was also foiled by the alert and vigilant troops of Indian Army in the densely forested area along Line of Control in Poonch sector this morning. ‘’On noticing some suspicious activity, the alert troops deployed along LC challenged a group of 2 to 3 infiltrators who were attempting to cross the fence,’’ defence spokesman here said.

 He said that the group immediately opened fire which was responded to in equal measure by the alert troops, forcing the group to flee back. As per police sources one Army soldier, namely Lance Naik Vinod Kumar of RR was reportedly got critically injured near Makhiya area during an unsuccessful intrusion attempt by a group of terrorists in Sabjiyan sector Pakistan also fired unprovoked in Rajouri Sector from 1240 hrs using small arms and automatics, which was responded appropriately and befittingly by the own troops to the enemy.
