Arunachal Pradesh: 4 arrested for stealing Golden holy book from Luguthang Monastery

Itanagar: The Tawang District Police has arrested four persons for allegedly stealing the Golden holy book (Ser Choi) from the Luguthang Monastery in Tawang district last month.
 
Subsequently, based on their confessional statement, the cops recovered the stolen property from Meragoh village after a nine-hour-long trek.
 
With this, the police claimed to have solved the burglary case of Luguthang Monastery.
 
As per the FIR lodged at Jang Police Station by Tsering Chombey of Luguthang village, some unknown miscreants had on April 28 entered the Luguthang village Gonpa by breaking the lock of the main door and taken away the Golden holy book, following which the police launched an investigation.
 
“A team led by SI Pema Wangchu (OC, Jang PS) solved the burglary case of Luguthang Monastery with the arrest of 4 persons and recovery of the stolen property from Meragoh village after a 9-hour trek,” the Arunachal Pradesh Police PRO said.
 
The arrested accused persons have been identified as Lham Tsering and Lobsang Tsering of Kharung village (Bongkhar) under Jang PS, and Tashi Phuntso and Tenzin Norbu, both residents of Mangnam village under Lumla PS, he said.

“On thorough interrogation, they revealed that they had stolen the Holy Book (Ser Choi) from Luguthang Gonpa and hid at some place near Luguthang village. On May 24, a police team led by two accused persons left for Luguthang to recover the stolen holy book and after 9 hours of trekking the stolen property was recovered from Meragoh near Luguthang village,” the PRO said.
 
A case was registered under Sections 457/380 of Indian Penal Code and further investigation is on, police sources said. (UNI)
