Assam: Police ‘seize’ female elephant, her calf for killing 14-yr old boy

Guwahati: In an operation of different nature, Assam police has seized a female elephant and her calf, for allegedly killing a boy in the Bokakhat district of Assam.

As per the local media reports, the female elephant Dulumoni allegedly killed a 14-year old boy on July 8 in the Bokakhat district of Assam.

The incident sparked outrage among residents of the area where man-animal conflict has become an everyday story.

Under intense public pressure, police were compelled to register a case under Section 304A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and seized the female elephant along with her calf.

As per police, both the animals are domesticated and are owned by an influential person in the area.

After the seizure, police handed over the elephant and the calf to Kaziranga National Park authorities for their safety.

Further investigation is going on, informed police. (UNI)
