ATM catches fire, Rs 5 lakh burnt to ashes

Mysuru: An amount of Rs Five lakh staked in an ATM was reduced to ashes when it caught fire due to a short circuit in Mysuru Palace premises today. Thick smoke started belching out from the ticket counter at the Varaha Gate of the Palace. The entire ticket counter including the documents were burnt down.
 

Fire tenders rushed to the spot as some of the visitors complained and the fire was extinguished. The incident took place as the battery of an ATM near the counter burst. The ATM was filled with Rs 5 lakh yesterday and the money that remained in the machine was burnt to ashes. Palace ACP Shylendra and officials visited the spot. A complaint has been registered at Devaraja Police Station. (UNI)
