Banks and ATMs will remain close today: PM

New Delhi: In an unprecedented war against black money and fake currency, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that the banks and ATMs will be closed on November 9, 2016 for public for cleanliness process. “On November 9, all banks will remain closed for public work. New Rs 500 and Rs 2000 notes will be brought into circulation soon,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said. On November 10, the ATMs at some places will not function, he added.

However, the prime minister also said that the denominations in Rs 500 and Rs 1000 will be accepted for next 72 hours, till November 11, 2016. “For 72 hours (till 11 Nov midnight), Rs 500 & Rs 1000 currency notes would be acceptable in the hospitals, CNG petrol pumps, cooperative societies, state-government run milk parlour. No change in any other form of currency exchange be it cheque, DD, payment via credit or debit card.” he said. (UNI)
