Bengaluru Mass Molestation case : Ministers’ insensitive remarks add to the agony

New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju today condemned the remark of Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on the incidents of molestation in Bengaluru during the New Year Eve celebrations and demanded that the culprits should be punished. "I condemn the irresponsible comment made by Karnataka  Home Minister. Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azami is the latest to join the list. He has stated that provoking clothes of the girls are the root cause for such incidents.
 

City police should catch all the identified culprits and put behind the bar," Mr Rijiju said in a series of tweets. He said, "We can't allow the shameful act of mass molestation go unpunished. Bengaluru is a vibrant city and women safety is must in a civilised society." "I condemn the shameful harassment of women. It's not just an incident or law and order issue.

The Whole society has to ponder on degrading mindset," the Minister asserted. Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal also condemned Mr Parameshwara's remarks and demanded his resignation. "Karnataka Home Minister should be made to resign for his insensitivity and idiocy.

Blaming mass molestation on western culture and dress! Shame," the DCW chief tweeted. Earlier, reacting to reports of molestation, the state Home Minister said that such incident do happen on New Year day and Christmas. (UNI)
