Beware of this ink in new currency notes!

Ever since Modi government has declared demonetization and issued new currency notes of 500/- and 2000/-, the speculations have been rife about them. Many rumors have been doing rounds about their color, size and printing quality.

It also made way for some of the jokes saying that the new currency notes have RAM, USB cord, GPS and other such digital features. But jokes apart, the question remains, is there a chip or a signal sender in these new notes that can help authorities know about their whereabouts?

Even though finance minister Arun Jaitly rubbished any such claims, the general perception, especially on social media has that there is indeed something about these new notes. Maybe something with their ink. The common belief is that a special kind of radio-active ink has been used in the printing of these new currency notes. Many developed countries have already been using such ink in order to keep track of any kind of hoarding of the currency notes.

In fact P32 or a radio-active isotope of phosphorus, having an atomic structure has 15 protons and 17 neutrons, can be used in ink for printing. It works as a warning tape and notify in case of hoarding of the currency notes. The rumors have it that this has already started working as many people are getting caught hoarding the new currency notes.

Although nobody knows for sure where this ink is used in the printing of the note, but this is being said that this radio-active ink doesn’t work forever and therefore government may need to keep printing new notes.
