Bihar: Fire extinguisher explodes while dousing fire in Valsad Express in Muzaffarpur, RPF constable dies

Muzaffarpur: A cop of the Railway Protection Force was burnt alive as the fire fighting device exploded while he was dousing the flames in a sleeper coach of Balsad-Muzaffarpur Express at Muzaffarpur railway station under East Central Railways on Monday.
 
RPF sources said here that the train was being taken to the yard after all the passengers alighted from the train which had reached the station at 6:15 AM. The RPF head constable Vinod Yadav suddenly noticed the fire from the S 8 sleeper coach and he started dousing the flames with the fire fighting appliances.
 
He had also informed the control room and the RPF post about the incident. When the constable tried to open the second firefighting equipment it exploded in his hand injuring him severely. He was rushed to a private hospital in the town where the doctors declared him dead.
The body later was sent to Shri Krishna Medical College Hospital for postmortem.

After getting the information Inspector General RPF Amrish Kumar Sinha, senior officer of GRP and Railways, and the team of FSL as well as medical teams reached the spot.
 
Sinha expressed his deep sorrow over the incident and described it as the highest level of sacrifice. He said the incident would be investigated so that it would not happen in the future. The reason behind the incident could be asserted only after getting the reports of the FSL and the fire brigade teams.
