Bizarre: Dead body kept for autopsy eaten by rats in refrigerator

Kaithal: A body kept in the civil hospital mortuary here was found partially eaten by rats. The incident came to light yesterday, when the body was brought out of the refrigerator for post-mortem. The deceased's family expressed anger and demanded action against those responsible for the negligence.

The victim was injured in a road accident on Ambala road here on Monday and admitted to hospital and later referred to PGI but as his condition deteriorated on way, he was brought back to civil hospital where he died. Due to late hours, the autopsy could not be conducted hence the body was kept in the morgue for the night. Earlier on Sunday, the body of a woman who had died after delivery in the hospital, had been spoiled by rats in the same manner in the morgue. (UNI)
