Indore: A local court remanded Bharatiya Janata Party General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya’s son Akash - who represents Indore-3 constituency in the Assembly - in judicial custody till July 7 after he was placed under arrest on the charge of using a cricket bat to assault Municipal Corporation officials in public earlier in the day.

A hornets’ nest was stirred up subsequent to a video of the incident going viral. In the wake of Corporation employees threatening to proceed on strike, law-enforcement authorities registered a case against the legislator and ten others.

The MLA was apprehended amid heavy security and presented before Judicial Magistrate Gaurav Garg who rejected a bail application. Hundreds of Akash’s supporters thronged the area adjoining the court premises. Police bandobast was visible. (UNI)
