BJP MP Varun Gandhi shares 'crystal clear' video of Lakhimpur incident, demands accountability

BJP MP Varun Gandhi shares 'crystal clear' video of Lakhimpur incident, demands accountability
, Thursday, 7 October 2021 (15:30 IST)
New Delhi: Sharing a viral video related to Lakhimpur Kheri incident, BJP MP Varun Gandhi said on Thursday that accountability for the incident must be set.

The video shows a black SUV which he said belongs to Union Minister Ajay Mishra Teni, the vehicle is seen ploughing through a group of protesting farmers.

"The video is crystal clear. Protestors cannot be silenced through murder. There has to be accountability for the innocent blood of farmers that has been spilled and justice must be delivered before a message of arrogance and cruelty enters the minds of every farmer," he posted on Twitter.

Varun Gandhi has been fiercely critical of what happened at Lakhimpur Kheri on Sunday, during which eight people, including four farmers were killed.

A day ago, he had posted a grainer version of the video on his Twitter account.

Varun Gandhi has also written to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asking a CBI probe and an ex-gratia sum of Rs 1 crore to the next of kin of farmers who died in the incident.

Modi government at the Centre and Yogi government in the UP are in the eye of the storm and are being accused of shielding the perpetrators of the incident which took the lives of nine people including four farmers, three BJP workers, a driver and a journalist.

The farmers have alleged Union minister Ajay Mishra Teni's son Ashish ran over the protesters in the Tikonia area who were coming back after holding a demonstration against Centre's three farm laws.

The minister has denied these allegations and instead claimed that the protesters started pelting stones due to which the driver of the car lost balance and this incident happened. (UNI)
