New Delhi: The BJP today indicated that it would not initiate any disciplinary or otherwise action against the senior BJP leaders, including Union Minister Uma Bharti, for facing "criminal conspiracy" charge on the demolition of Babri Masjid in Ayodhya in 1992. "We don't think there can be any action against anyone from party against these leaders because all of them were involved in Ram Mandir movement," senior party leader Kailash Vijayvargiya told reporters here.
However, the BJP leader declined to comment on the Supreme Court order that said L K Advani, M M Joshi and Uma Bharti and other top leaders of the BJP will be tried for criminal conspiracy in the demolition of the 16th-century Mosque. "We should not comment on Supreme Court's order. It will not be proper," he said. The Supreme Court order today came taking in cognisance the plea from the CBI which says it has evidence that the BJP leaders had planned and made speeches that led to the demolition of the Masjid.
The Allahabad High Court in 2010 had disagreed with the CBI about criminal conspiracy charges against the BJP top leaders including veterans like Mr Advani and Mr Joshi.(UNI)
