BJP's Mahila Morcha leader Juhi goes 12 days CID remand

Siliguri: BJP's Mahila Morcha leader Juhi Chowdhury, arrested on charges of child trafficking case, was today remanded into 12 days of CID remand by an order of the Jalpaiguri court. Juhi Chowdhury was arrested by a 10-member CID team from Khoribari under Siliguri sub-division located near Indo-Nepal border of Darjeeling district last night. Ms Chowdhury’s arrest was followed after Chandana Chakraborty, another arrested accused, told police that the BJP leader has influence in the corridor of power in New Delhi and had taken BJP MP Roopa Ganguly for references in relations of Ashray and Bimala Sishu Griha, the two homes for underprivileged children in Jalpaiguri.
 

She was staying in one of her relatives' house close to Nepal border in north Bengal. Meanwhile, a latest development the state unit of the BJP today removed Juhi Chowdhury from the position of a state secretary of its mahila morcha following her arrest. Her father Rabindranath Chowdhury was also sacked from his position in the state committee. With the arrest of Juhi so far four persons - Chandana Chakraborty, Sonali Mondal, Manas Chakraborty, bother of Chandana and Juhi Chowdhury arrested so far in child trafficking case of more than 17 kids. The CJMC of the Jalpaiguri on production of the BJP leader by the CID sleuths ordered 12 days of CID remand. (UNI)
