BJP urges EC to include displaced Kashmiri Pundits in voters' list

New Delhi: A BJP delegation today met the Election Commission and demanded the inclusion of names of displaced Hindus of Jammu and Kashmir in the state voters' list. The delegation led by senior BJP leaders -- Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Jitendra Singh met Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi and Election Commissioners AK Joti and Om Prakash Rawat.
 

Talking to reporters after meeting the Election Commissioners, Dr Singh said the number of displaced Hindus of Jammu and Kashmir is more than 3.5 lakh. The delegation demanded that the poll panel also include the names of children of displaced Kashmiri Pundits in the voters' list who are now adults. The BJP leader said the EC heard the issue raised by the delegation patiently and assured them of appropriate action. (UNI)
