Chennai: Continuing his tirade against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M.K.Stalin on Wednesday said the BJP-led Government at the Centre is trying to shield itself under the Sanatana Dharma row to cover up its failures and corruption.

In a statement here, he said the BJP government, which was trying to divert the attention of the people using the Sanatana dharma issue and spreading hatred, should be defeated in the next year's Lok Sabha polls and the Opposition-led INDIA bloc should win it.

Hitting out Mr Modi for remaining silent on several burning issues faced by the country, he said by advising his colleagues in the Cabinet meeting to give adequate reply to Sanatana row--in the wake of some remarks made by Tamil Nadu Minister and DMK

Youth Wing Leader Udhayanidhi Stalin that led to a polical row--it meant that the Prime Minister was trying to hide himself under name of Sanatana dharma.

Alleging that the Modi government has not fulfilled any of its promises ever since he came to power in 2014, Mr Stalin said the Prime Minister has not uplifted the livelihood of the poor people, not created job opportunities to lit up the lights in the lives of youth, murdered the democracy and taking the country to a dangerous path through its Autocratic rule.

He said the BJP government has lost the people's faith and to cover it up are indulging in publicity campaigns.

Mr Stalin alleged that there were irregularities in schemes like Bharat Mala, Dwaraka express highway project, toll plaza rates, Ayushman Bharat, Ayodhya development scheme, Village pension schemes and HAL airport scheme as highlighted by the CAG in its report.

"To cover up the Rs 7.5 lakh crore irregularities pointed out by the CAG, the BJP is hiding its face using Sanatana Dharma as a cover", he charged.

He also accused the Centre of not having the backbone to put an end to the Manipur issue, which has been burning for the last four months. Even police firing has taken place two days back.

"Without allowing to talk about these issues, the BJP is trying to divert the attention", the Chief Minister said. (UNI)
