Varanasi: Local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and workers on Sunday waived black flags and also threw black ink on Samajwadi Party (SP) national general secretary and MLC Swami Prasad Maurya's car when his cavalcade was passing through Tengaramor area under Ramnagar police station, police sources said here.
Police sources said the incident took place when Maurya's cavalcade was on its way to Sonbhadra district from Tengaramor area from Varanasi. BJP leader Deepak Singh Rajveer said they were hurt by remarks of Maurya on Ramcharitmanas.
He said they lodged their protest against Maurya who was hurting sentiments of people associated with Sanatan Parampara (tradition). He said Maurya could never be pardoned for his controversial remarks on Ramcharitmanas.
Meanwhile, police came in and pushed back BJP workers after which the car and cavalcade of Maurya moved towards Sonbhadra district. BJP workers were chanting Jai Shree Ram and Har Har Mahadev when they showed black flags and threw black ink on his car. (UNI)
