New Delhi: Amid mounting pressure on government to take tough retaliatory action of the Uri attack, the Army has put in place an operational posture along the Line of Control to strike at a short notice. "We have achieved an operational posture which will allow us to exercise various options at various levels at a short notice," Defence sources in the South Block told UNI.

The confirmation comes following reports from the LoC that the Army has moved its assets, including artillery guns close to the disputed line of divide and fortified its positions. When pointed out, the sources said it was also the part of need based redeployment. "Formations are well within their rights to redeploy resources where ever these are required," they said.

"This is a dynamic deployment which we keep on doing," the sources said. Report of repositioning of the resources by the Army comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his "Mann Ki Baat" radio broadcast said the Army does not speak but act. There are reports that Bofors guns, capable of firing at range of 28 km, have been moved towards Uri sector. The sources here called it a "routine" movement.(UNI)
