Bomb found ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Imphal today

Imphal: Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi will be visiting Manipur here today to address a public meeting at Hapta Kangjeibung. Meanwhile a bomb was found near Bashikhong, Imphal. The bomb was safely removed by Manipur police bomb experts and detonated. All roads leading the meeting venue were blocked and Manipur police personnel stopped and frisked every vehicle in the state today. Police said so far about 400 persons were rounded up for police verification near the venue. A SPG team is also supervising the security arrangement.
 

Rahul Gandhi is expected to reach Imphal Tulihal airport around 1 pm and address the public function around 2 pm. Congress is expecting turnout of large numbers of people for the event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had addressed a public meeting at Langjing Achouba ground on Feb 25 last. The state will be witnessing a two phase polls on March 4 and 8 next. (UNI)
