BSF jawan injured in Pak firing succumbs in Jammu hospital

Jammu: A Jawan of BSF who got injured in cross border firing late tonight succumbed during a treatment in a hospital here. "Constable Gurnam Singh, resident of Bhaleshar, Magowali, R S Pura, Arnia Jammu, who suffered a critical head injured in a sniper shot fired from across the border, late tonight succumbed at Government Medical College and Hospital,’’ police spokesman here said. He said that the body of the jawan was kept in the mortuary for the post-mortem to be conducted in the morning.

The family of the martyred jawan earlier demanded shifting him outside the state for specialized treatment. Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister during his border visit said that he will be shifted on the consultations and advices of the doctors. However, a pal of gloom gripped the native village of the martyred jawan as soon as the news of his death spread across. (UNI)
