Thane: When the entire country debates on the issue of protection of cow, a butcher has come forward and performed 'Go Pooja' at an ashram here. Hundreds of cow lovers, vowed to protect the cow in a rare function held at the Srinathji Dham Goushala, at Karnala Pada, of Sasoon Navghar, at Vasai adjacent to Thane district yesterday.
Participants at the meeting headed by the chief of the Ashram Janmashtami Das vowed to protect the cow at any cost. He said the butcher Abrar Qureshi and his wife were into the protection of cow for long. Abrar comes from the family of butchers who had a meat stall in the city.
Since he got married to his wife a Maharashtrian he gave up the profession and took to total protection of cow and has been working for the same, he said. The couple is now busy round the clock and identifying the illegal transportation and slaugher of cow, he said. On this occasion around two dozen cows were adopted by the participants who declared that they would take care of the cow and ensure the Ashram where around 50 cows are now now placed would be grown to much more larger extent to accomodate at least 2500 cows. It was also decided to float the 'Go Sena' to protect the cows, it was declared. (UNI)
