Srinagar: In an effort to restore normalcy in the Kashmir valley, Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said that the Centre will find an alternative to pellet guns in next 2-4 days. Addressing a joint press conference with Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti after holding meeting with the latter in Srinagar, Mr Singh said, “Within next 2 to 4 days, we will give alternative to pellet gun as there is a need of some other non-lethal alternative,I have asked the forces restrain from using the pellet guns.”
The Home Minister reiterated, “Future of youth of Kashmir and rest of country are linked,Youth should have computers and books and not stones in their hand,the people should dissuade stone pelters.” He said, “I have met over 300 people, including representatives of political parties,All want peace and development,I have appealed to all that don’t play with future of youths.”
Chief Minister Ms Mufti said, “Differentiate between those who misguide youth to pelt stones and those who want development.” Advising youth to shun violence, said no solution can be found by stone pelting and attacking security camps. Home Minister Mr Singh, who is on a two-day visit to the state in the wake of violent protests triggered after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani on July 8, also met with former chief minister Omar Abdullah. This is second visit of the home minister in a month to the state.(UNI)
