Tirumala: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao presented gold jewellery worth Rs 5 crore to Lord Venkateswara Swamy here as part of a vow he made before separate Telangana was carved out. The Chief Minister, accompanied by his family members and some Ministers arrived on his maiden visit to the famed hill shrine last evening. He offered prayers to Lord Venkateswara Swamy during VIP break darshan this morning.
After the darshan, he presented 14.20 kg Saligram Haram golden necklace costing about Rs 3.70 crore and 4.65 kg Kanta Abharanam costing Rs 1.20 crore to Lord Venkateswara. Later, he will motor down to Tirupati, offer prayers and donate gold ornament to goddess Padmavathi Ammavari temple in Tiruchanur before flying back to Hyderabad.
Among those who accompanied the Chief Minsiter are Telangana Assembly Speaker Madhusudhanachary, Ministers E.Rajender and T.Harish Rao, Nizamabad MP and CMs daughter Ms Kavitha besides Telangana government's advisor and former TTD executive officer KV Ramanachary, and government officials. (UNI)
