Dantewada: Eight Naxals, including four women, were killed during an encounter with police near Timaner forests in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada District early today, police said.
"A search operation is being conducted in view of President Ram Nath Kovind's proposed visit to Dantewada on July 25. A joint team of the Special Armed Forces and the District Reserve Police was patrolling at Timaner forests when Maoists opened indiscriminate fire forcing police to retaliate," Bastar Inspector General of Police V Sinha told UNI.
In one-and-half hour long gun-battle, eight ultras were killed. Two INSAS, as many 303 rifles, a pen gun and a 12-bore gun were seized from the spot. The bodies of slain rebels were recovered. The deceased extremists are yet to be identified.(UNI)
