Seoni (MP): A tigress – who gave birth to 29 cubs over approximately a decade in Pench Tiger Reserve thus earning the sobriquet ‘Super Mom’ besides being known as ‘Pench ki Rani’ and ‘Collarwali’ – has died, Forest Department sources said.
Though the death – which occurred on Saturday – is believed to have been natural, officials are conducting an inquiry. Following completion of formalities, the carcass was disposed of here. On Friday, the carnivore was observed by tourists near the Bhoora Daitya nullah in Karmajhiri Core Area.
The animal was collared in March 2008. Twenty-four of its offspring are still alive. In May 2008, three were born, 2009 (four), 2010 (five), 2012 and 2013 (three each), 2015 and 2016 (four each) and 2018 (three). (UNI)
