New Delhi: Hours after the BJP fielded party's Dalit face -- yet a low profile leader -- Ram Nath Kovind for the ensuing Presidential elections, the Congress and other parties are mooting the idea of projecting Prakash Ambedkar as their nominee. "We will not give BJP a cakewalk. Prakash Ambedkar, grandson of Dalit icon and Bharat Ratna BR Ambedkar, is one of the candidates we are exploring," an informed source in the Left parties told UNI here.
Sources said, the move was mooted between CPI, CPI-M and Congress leaders late evening today, close on the heels BSP supremo Mayawati suggesting that her party can back the Opposition-sponsored candidate, if there was a "better Dalit candidate" than the BJP-led NDA's choice -- Mr Kovind. (UNI)
