Kalaburagi: Leader of the Congress in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge today said that the party has not given call for Bharat Bhandh on November 28 but has organized a protest throughout the country against the BJP-led NDA government for unplanned demonetisation of currency. "The Centre’s unscientific decision has created uncertainty among the middle class," he added. Addressing a press conference here, Mr Kharge expressed his anguish saying that common people are unable to buy essential commodities with shortage of currency.

"We are not against currency demonetisation but should have been implemented in a scientific way without affecting the interests of common man," he added. Mr Kharge said that if Prime Minister Narendra Modi believes in democracy, he should come to Parliament and participate in the debate and answer Opposition's concerns on demonetisation. "As a citizen of this country, I support Prime Minister Narendra Modi's move on demonetization.

But, it was a decision in a hurry. The government should have taken some precautionary measures to address the impact of demonetisation and later scrap the Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes," he added. Stating that Congress want to highlight drawbacks of demonetisation, he said that some precise lives were lost due to this un-scientific demonetization and Mr Modi himself is responsible if this leads to another economic crisis in the country it was also because of him."
