Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Congress was still hopeful for the alliance with Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls. UP Congress President Raj Babbar, who rushed from New Delhi this afternoon told media at the airport here today that he was not aware of the alliance being on threat. "Congress will always go on talks with any party taking in consideration, with the respect of the party cadres," he said.

Commenting on the SP list, Mr Babbar said "Every party has the right to declare its list and other parties cannot question it." SP has released a list of 191 candidates, giving candidature in all Congress sitting seats in first two phases of the polls. Mr Babbar said Congress has always cared for smaller parties like Peace Party and will go with them.
