Congress releases candidates' list for 218 seats for Karnataka Assembly polls

Bengaluru:Congress party today released the candiadtes’ list for 218 segment sout of 224 for the May 12 elections and chief minister Siddaramaiah will contest from Chamundeshwari seat in his home district of Mysuru and not in two segments.

The list was release by Congress General Secretary Mukul Wasnik in Delhi today and the party had made clear that no leader would contest from two seats.All the ministers in the Siddaramaiah cabinet have been accommodated and the key seats that the party has not nominated is Shantinagar in Bangalore city where the two time MLA M A Haris is facing public ire after his son and former youth congress leader Mohammad Nalpad Haris was arrested after brutally assaulting a youth with his ‘gang members’ in an up market bar in the city. The other seat was Melukote where interdependent member Puttannaiah had won but died as sitting MLA and his son is contesting and Congress us unlikely to field a candidate there.

Congress party also accommodated all the minister besides defectors who recently joined the party and this include controversial Bidar MLA Ashok Kheni and mining baron Anand Singh who had been a close associate of BJP mine baron G Janardhana Reddy. The others who recently joined the party and were give ticket include Shivaraj tangadgi (Kanakagiri-SC), Iqbal Ansari (Gangavari, Satish Sail (Karwar), Akhanda Srinivasamurty (Pulikeshinagar) H C Balakrishna (Magadi and Cheluvarayaswamy (Nagamangala).

The new entrants include prominent leader in HK region Allama Prabhu Patil (Kalaburgi Dakshin) and cine actor Ambareesh (Mandya) who retained his nomination.Among the minister who have been renominated include M B Patil, Sharanaprakash Patil, Priyank Kharge, Vinay Kulkarni, Santosh Lad, R V Deshpande, H Anjaneya, S S Mallikarrjun, Kagodu Thimmappa, Pramod Madhwaraj, K J George, Roshan Beig, Ramalinga Reddy, M H Revanna and U T Khader.(UNI)
