Mumbai: Seeking strict action against writer-lyricist Javed Akhtar, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Monday said that his statement on the Taliban and RSS is a ‘conspiracy’ to confuse society.

Akhtar recently told a news channel that right-wing all over the world has an uncanny similarity.

Earlier in the day, security was beefed up outside Akhtar’s residence in Mumbai after a Maharashtra BJP MLA demanded an apology from him over his remark, a police official said. Adequate police bandobast was placed outside Akhtar’s residence near the ISKCON temple in the Juhu area, the official said, adding that security personnel, including women constables, were deployed outside the lyricist’s home.
