Thiruvananthapuram: Thiruvananthapuram City Corporation Mayor Ms Arya Rajendran, the youngest mayor in the country, and Balussery MLA Sachin Dev, the youngest member in the Kerala Legislative Assembly, entered into a wedlock at a simple function held at AKG Centre, the CPI(M) headquarters here in the state, at 11 am on Sunday.
The marriage ceremony was attended by party's top leaders including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, his family members, and CPM State Secretary MV Govindan.
Arya became the Mayor at the age of 21 when she was studying at the All Saints College in Thiruvananthapuram.
Sachin Dev MLA, a member of the CPM Kozhikode district committee, is a native of Nellikode in Kozhikode.
While 28-year-old Sachin Dev is the State Secretary of the Students Federation of India (SFI), Arya is its state committee member. Both of them were actively involved in the activities of the 'Balasangam' and the SFI.
They announced their marriage plan in February last. The engagement ceremony was also held at the AKG Centre on March 6. The couple had also requested the guests not to bring any gift for the wedding ceremony. Those who want to bestow presentations can contribute it to the old age homes or the Corporation or to the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund, they informed. (UNI)
