Court permits SIMI terror accused to meet the lawyer

Bhopal: A local court today granted permission to approximately 20 incarcerated members, of the proscribed Students’ Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) to meet their advocate within prison premises here. Chief Judicial Magistrate Bhoobhaskar Yadav ruled that the duration of each such interaction would not exceed 20 minutes.
 

SIMI activists’ hearings are conducted through video-conferencing. Earlier, the court reprimanded the police for not providing information regarding the recent encounter deaths of eight SIMI extremists following their escape from the Central Jail on October 30. The law-enforcement authorities were directed to submit a report by November 17. A judicial inquiry is underway. (UNI)
