New Delhi: In a swift move, the Defence Ministry has asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to look into the bribery charges surfaced in USD 210 million defence deal with the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer. Government sources today told UNI that the Ministry has written to CBI seeking an investigation into the alleged involvement of middlemen in the deal signed in 2008 during the UPA rule.

A joint investigation by the US and Brazilian Media has exposed the presence of UK based middlemen in the deal under which three Embraer aircraft were to be delivered to India for its Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) system. (UNI)
